As I am writing this my 2 year old is banging on his bedroom door and screaming at the top of his lungs! How did we get to this point you ask?!?!
Cooper has been testing his limits with me for the last month or so. Most of the time it is a timeout here or a quick word there and I can pop him back into place. Today we went to the splash park for a play date. Cooper had taken his sippy cup and was filling his mouth up with juice then spitting it out. I warned him once, told him on the second time if he did it once more we were going home, and finally on the third time scooped him and Caddie up and left the park kicking and screaming. This fit did not stop once we got to the car it got worse. It was when a blue Croc came flying into the front seat that I told him now we are going home and going to bed. So now I have a kicking screaming toddler in his room testing my limits.
I will not back down...I will not back down...I must keep reminding myself that I have to keep my word and he has to know I am the one in charge. With that said though I am now going to list things I love about Cooper as a reminder of why I don't kill him in these moments.
1. I love when he gets up in the morning how he wants to snuggle with me.
2. I love how he says "ok mama" when I ask him to do something...most times :)
3. I love how when I leave he says "love you mommy have a good day"
4. I love how excited he gets over cars, planes, trucks, and train tracks!
5. I love the way he takes my hand and wraps my arms around him tight when we are sitting together.
There is always more to love but some days it is hard to see through the fog. As I finish up this blog I have a quiet house and peace is moving through me again :)
