Because I had a fever Cooper's heart rate went up and they decided it was a good idea to have NICU come and look at him once he was born. They noticed he was having a very hard time breathing and they quickly took him over to NICU. They began by trying to give him oxygen through his nose. This was not working and Cooper was only breathing at 30%. Because he was working so hard he also blew out part of his lung and this is when they decided to put him on a vent. I was totally unaware of the time but Rob told me they worked on him for 2.5 hours before we were able to get any information.
When I got to my room my fever was still too high to see him so I had to wait till 5am the next morning. Rob spent most of the night going back and forth between me and Cooper. Though we were not able to hold him Rob just held his hand and talked to him all night.
The first night was by far the hardest but Cooper quickly began to do so much better.
